Well after the RY Women finished the year with such a great championship game – a 1 – 0 loss but a great game, I wasn’t sure the baseball year could end much better. But, the Toronto Fusion went off to Fort Myers in late October to once again compete in the Roy Hobbs Women’s Championship Series – A Division. The Fusion consisting of mostly Royal York and Annette players made a clean swipe over the three days of ball. We went undefeated in five games with three shutouts. Two of our pitchers threw complete games and our bats and fielding all came together on the same weekend – somewhat unusual as we quite often have some challenges in one area or the other. To top the weekend off the championship game was played in the Jet Blue Stadium, home stadium of the Boston Red Sox spring training. What a treat that was for all.
Playing in Women’s Championship Series tournament for some 8 years now the Fusion has always competed hard. History has us with three bronze medals and now a GOLD.
A great weekend and end of the season for all.
