MESSAGE FROM THE GIRL’S BANTAM CONVENOR

Thank you for your interest in Royal York’s 2018 Girl’s Bantam House League Program. This program is geared towards players born in 2002, 2003 and 2004. House League is the foundation of our association and we welcome a wide range of ability and experience from beginners of organized baseball to players that have started from as early as Blastball.

SCHEDULE

Your daughter’s team will receive communication via email or phone call between mid to late April from their Head Coach on scheduling details, Pre Season Pro Teach Workout, expectations, etc. We run our regular season in May & June, with the league recommencing in September for Playoffs. This gives you the flexibility to enjoy an uninterrupted summer and being more eager than ever to get back on the field for some late summer ball. Your daughter will on average have 2 games a week with 1 practice. We play one game on a week night (typically Tuesday/Wednesday at 6:00 or 8:30) and a game on Saturday afternoons. Practice will be a week night and we encourage your daughter to attend practices to learn new plays and refine their skill set.

LEAGUE PLAY

Once again this year, the Bantam Girls will be playing in the Bantam Boys (2003, and 2004) House League Loop – this will include teams from Royal York and Bloordale.  We expect to have at least two teams of girls this year and have 6-8 teams total in the league.

We encourage and welcome any parent or volunteer to consider coaching, scorekeeping, or helping organize the players during the game. We offer a ton of resources and tools and work closely with our Player & Coach Development Head, Denny Berni, who continues doing a great job maximizing our coaches skill set, baseball IQ & overall passion to teach the game to our kids.  The strength of our league is built on our volunteers and we will need new coach volunteers this year so please step up.

EQUIPMENT

All players in Bantam, Midget and Women Divisions must bring their own CSA-approved batting helmet. The only other required pieces of equipment are a good glove and baseball cleats (metal or non-metal). We provide a full uniform as part of your registration fee (Hat, Jersey, Socks, Belt, and Pants).  Aluminum bats only at this level (no wood bats) – you can bring your own or team bats are provided.
