JUNIOR T-BALL DIVISION

A Note From Your Junior T-Ball Convener

Thank you for your interest in the 2024 Jr. Co-ed T-Ball season with Royal York Baseball League!

WHAT’S CHANGING

Based on feedback from our season in 2023 we are making some changes to the Jr. T-Ball division for this year. This season Jr. T-Ball will be 1 day per week. You will have the option of choosing either a Tuesday evening or a Sunday morning slot through the registration process. Registration will be limited to 10 teams TOTAL with 4 teams (32 kids) playing on Tuesday evenings and 6 teams (48 kids) playing Sunday mornings. These spots will fill up quickly so please do not delay. If the registration link does not work it means the league is full. Please write to info@rybl.com to add your name to a waitlist.

ABOUT THE GAME

Jr. Co-ed T-ball is designed as an entry level to baseball. There are 8 players per team, and the focus is on having fun while learning the basics: throwing, catching, fielding, hitting and team play. Softer baseballs and regulation aluminum bats are used, and the field is set up with three bases on a smaller baseball field with a Tee for players to hit off. Big emphasis on FUN. Jr. Co-ed T-ball has volunteer coaches (parents) on the field to help the players learn the rules and coordinate play.

COACHING VOLUNTEERS

RYBL is the best youth baseball association in Etobicoke because of the dedication of its parent Coach Volunteers. Please consider expressing your interest in coaching or assisting on your child’s registration application. All coaches are supported with initial training and continuous group communication. Please review Coaching FAQs to help answer any questions.

DETAILS

  1. Age group for 2024 – Children born in 2019 or 2020.
  2. Season Start/duration – Season will start the week of Sunday May 5th and will run for 8 weeks.
  3. When – One day per week. Either Tuesday evenings at 6:15pm or Sunday mornings. Each occurrence will begin with a 15-20 minute practice followed by a 3 inning game.
  4. Equipment – Please bring a glove and water bottle. Bats will be supplied (or you can bring your own). We do ask families to purchase a batting helmet for their child for the season. Each coach will have a few batting helmets available as backups.
  5. Uniforms – Please have your child wear pants, even on hot days. Any pants will do, baseball pants are not required. RYBL will supply each child with a hat and team jersey.
  6. Diamond Locations – On Tuesdays it will be Humber Valley (54 Anglesey Blvd, Toronto, ON M9A 3E1) or Mimico Memorial (75 Hillside Ave, Etobicoke, ON M8V 2S1). On Sundays it will be Humber Valley.
  7. Play-With Requests – RYBL allows for Reciprocal Play-With Requests, per the play-with policy on the RYBL Website. This means that if your child would like to play with another child, please select that particular child during your Registration; and the other parent must do likewise. Multiple play-with (e.g., listing a number of players in the Play-With field will unfortunately not be considered). All efforts will be made, however, to accommodate properly made Reciprocal Play-With Requests! All Play-With requests must be submitted prior to April 1, 2024.

WHAT ELSE IS INCLUDED?

Player Clinics. Each player will have the opportunity to meet their team and take part in a baseball clinic run by ProTeach Instructors during the last 2 weeks of April.

Photos. The registration fee covers 1 individual photo and 1 team photo. Photo days are held at the ProTeach facility and usually run mid May.

I look forward to seeing you on the field this spring, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
