Presidents Message

Welcome to the 2010 baseball season! The League is anticipating some exciting changes for 2010 and welcomes past and new players to another season of fun.

What’s New in 2010 for the RYBL

Registration fees will be capped at last year’s final fee structure until March 4th, to encourage early registration. Divisional fees will increase by $25.00 after March 4th – Take advantage of the EARLY BIRD fee.  Please remember that all Rep. and Select players MUST register and pay the appropriate divisional fee before March 4th. A portion of the Rep fee is returned to the team to off set their operational costs.

Blastball will play on Tuesday nights and every Saturday morning. Tball will play either on Tuesday of Thursday and every Saturday morning. Both Blastball and Tball play from the first week of May to the end of June. Click here for more information on proposed diamond allocations and playing times for all divisions.

We have streamlined our Online Registration process to make it easier to register and pay your fees using a Credit Card or Pay Pal account on a fully secured server. I encourage all to register in this manner. The League will continue to absorb all transaction fees related to registration using this format.

Queensway Park south diamond is being completely revamped starting with a complete lighting upgrade with new poles and metal halide lamps. Even the bull pens will be lit. Not only will the lights be more energy efficient but playing at night will be easier as field lighting levels will increase making infield and outfield playing easier. Look for this modification to be complete by July 2010.

The League has asked Park and Recreation to completely do an upgrade of the infield playing surface at Queensway south. Our request has received favourable acceptance and we anticipate a new infield sometime during this playing season. The City is funding the total costs associated with this upgrade. The League will also have access to the newly constructed building and washrooms as part of the upgrades to the outdoor ice pad.

Tom Riley diamond will have a dedicated Port-a-Potty during the playing season in a secured fenced area on the north end of the batting cage. All coaches will have keys to access the Port-a-Potty. Our League is funding the operational cost of this upgrade. The Kiwanis club has graciously offered the League $1000.00 to help off set the refencing costs.

Boys Rookie will be moving from Westway to Woodford Park. Woodford is an appropriately sized diamond for Rookie play and is nestled in a ravine next to the Mimico creek with lots of parking.

Westway Park infield is being enlarged by 12 feet to accommodate Boys Pee Wee games and Practices. The diamond is also being regraded to promote better drainage.

Finally – Please remember to register early and to volunteer your time to coach. We will again have free training for both coaches and players using ProTeach professionals.

Now Let’s play ball.
